Busy week

Espn has had a busy week this last week keeping up with all the changing news happening in the wide world of sports. From Alex Rodriguez having a less than sincere apology at his media conference in New York when he spoke about his use of performance enhancing drugs in 01 through 03. We have also had the start of the NFL combine this week where college football players from all over the nation show up in Indianapolis working out for each of the 32 national football teams coaches and scouts. In college basketball we are coming to and end of the regular season with March madness around the corner and conference playoffs coming up. They is also college football news even though the season is over. This week was a ride for Texas Tech and coach Mike Leach. Earlier in the week Mike Leach passed up on his deadline to accept his new contract extension. His reason was that there was terminology added in the twelfth hour that was against his beliefs. After his deadline passed their was rumors that Texas Tech would fire him or he would leave for another job. Ten hours later however he was signed into a five year deal with the school and the rest is history. In college hockey the WCHA has had a lot of games this weekend that mean a lot for the conference. One game between UND and Anchorage Alaska had to take a back seat to the Volcano located 100 miles from Anchorage. It has been a scare for the teams and the WCHA conference in a whole that this volcano will not erupt this weekend with both teams in Alaska. If that were to happen it is very possible that both teams would be trapped in Anchorage for three weeks putting all games in the WCHA on hold. Finally this week the trade deadline for NBA basketball. Many teams tried to make last minute trades to better themselves but many trades either did not pan out or rejected due to failing physicals by players. It was a very busy week for the network stay tuned to see what happens next week.

ESPN

Due to the thin resources on KFAN I was forced to change my blog posting topic from KFAN to ESPN. ESPN has many different types of mediums for viewers. You have the option of ESPN the TV channel, ESPN the radio, www.espn.com is for the online sports viewer. And you also have the freedom of ESPN the magazine. ESPN gives sports fans nation wide an opertunity to view the latest news on any sports team from any where or any source. This week was national signing day for college football teams and one of the most intriguing stories I read took place last year on national signing day. A kid felt pressure from his coaches and friends and fabricated being recruited by Cal and Oregon among other schools, if you read this link it is actually an interesting and sad story http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/eticket/story?page=kevinhart. ESPN was developed September 7th, 1979 by father and son Bill and Scott Rasmussen. It is not known as the worldwide leader in sports. And is located in Bristol Connecticut.

Not Just Sports Radio

Radio talk shows can be very dry and tough to follow along with if the personality on the other side does not have much of just that, a personality. That is what sets KFAN apart from radio stations, every show that is on has people that draw your attention to the radio. Yes, most of the time they will talk about sports but occasionally they will talk about other news that is attention grabbing, good and bad. For instance a comical news story that was talked about one day was after an Iowa and Minnesota sporting event in the Twin Cities a man and women, both Iowa residents, where arrested at a local bar after witnesses complained about four legs in a bathroom stall. A 27 year old man and a 38 year old women where removed from the stall, cited, and later returned to their girlfriend and husband. A more disturbing news story talked about took place this past week in Chippewa Falls, W.I. a intoxicated man took his six children's six pets, two dogs and four cats and shot them all in the trailer house they all were living in. This not disgusting enough, he did all this well making all of his sex children watch.

Either of these stories would catch your attention and either make your gut sink or make you laugh out loud. Point being, KFAN is not only sports talk, well yes that is its bread and butter, it will also make you perk your ears with news stories to change your mood.
